Title I
Title I is a Federal program authorized through the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. It provides financial assistance to schools based on percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure all children meet challenging state academic standards.
Purpose of Title I
The primary purpose of Title I funding is to provide financial assistance to schools and school districts to help them meet the educational needs of all students. Title I aims to bridge the gap in educational achievement between disadvantaged students and their peers by providing support in key areas, including:
- Instructional Support
- Professional Development
- Parental Involvement
- Supplementary Programs
Allocation of Funds
Title I funds are allocated based on the number of low-income students enrolled in each school. Funding allocation is determined by ensuring there are sufficient funds to carry out a viable program in each school. Hamilton Avenue School, Julian Curtiss School, New Lebanon School, and Western Middle School are all identified as School-Wide Title I schools.
