Summer School

Welcome to the 2021 Summer School Program of the Greenwich Public Schools. Due to the impact of COVID-19 on our District’s education, this year’s Summer School program will focus solely on literacy and numeracy skills for our PreK - 8 students, and advancement courses and credit recovery courses for our secondary level students.

Our rigorous and engaging academic programs for PreK, Elementary, and Secondary school students will help your child to continue developing their academic skills, and will enable those secondary students to gain credits, or advancement for the upcoming Fall Semester.

Students will practice inferring, making connections, critiquing, analyzing, and summarizing through a series of reading and writing activities.

Links for the Registration of your student will be organized in the following 5 areas:

Elementary School Students:

  • Students in grades K-5 have received letters from GPS Central Office inviting them to register for Summer School programming for Literacy and Numeracy. Students were recommended based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth). The registration is included in the email. The focus is on those students who require additional opportunities. At this time, we cannot open registration to all students. If we are able to add recommended students, you will receive an email.
  • 5 weeks for 2 hours daily: 60 minutes for Literacy and 60 minutes for Numeracy.
  • Please use Family ID to register

Elementary School Special Education Students:

  • Students who receive Special Education but are NOT eligible for Extended School Year as of March 12, 2021:
    • Letters have gone out to parents of students who would be eligible for summer school based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth).
    • 5 weeks for 2 hours (Focus on Literacy including Writing, and Numeracy component).
    • No Special Education, or Related Services will be provided - students will receive accommodations and modifications
  • Students who receive Special Education, who ARE eligible for Extended School Year as of their IEPs as of May 12, 2021.
    • Letters will be sent to parents of students who are eligible for ESY based on the PPT decision as indicated in the IEP document.
    • 5 weeks for 4 hours (with Special Education Services addressing IEP objectives with a focus on Literacy, including Writing, Numeracy and Social Emotional Learning).

Middle School Students:

  • Invited ELA/Math Students:
    • Students in grades 6-8 have received letters GPS Central Office inviting them to register for Literacy and Math. Students were recommended based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth). The registration is included in the email. The focus is on those students who require additional opportunities. At this time, we cannot open registration to all students. If we are able to add recommended students, you will receive an email.
    • Middle School link to Registration in Family ID
    • 5 weeks for 3 hours daily.  90 minutes Literacy and 90 minutes Math,
  • Math (Acceleration Courses):

High School Students:

Secondary Special Education Students: 

  • Students who receive Special Education, but are NOT eligible for Extended School Year as of March 12, 2021:
    • Letters have gone out to parents of students who would be eligible for summer school based on combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth).
    • 5 weeks for 3 hours (Focus on Literacy, including Writing, and Numeracy).
    • No Special Education, or Related Services will be provided - students will receive accommodations and modifications.
  • Students who receive Special Education, who ARE eligible for Extended School Year as of their IEPs as of March 12, 2021.
