Summer School

Students in PreK receive letters from GPS Central Office inviting them to register for Summer School programming for Literacy and Numeracy. The registration is included in the email. The focus is on those students who require additional opportunities. At this time, we cannot open registration to all students. If we are able to add recommended students, you will receive an email. 

This summer, our program will take place at New Lebanon School. There is no charge for participating in the program which runs from June 30 to August 7, 2025. The program will meet Monday through Thursday from 8am-11am.

For special education PreK Students, in addition to IEP outlined goals and related services, this program will focus on enhancing early development skills.

Elementary School Invited Students:

Students in Grades K-4 (Rising Grades 1 - 5) receive letters from GPS Central Office inviting them to register for Summer School programming for Literacy and Numeracy. Students were recommended based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth). The registration is included in the email. The focus is on those students who require additional opportunities. At this time, we cannot open registration to all students. If we are able to add recommended students, you will receive an email.

This summer, our program will take place at New Lebanon School. There is no charge for participating in the program which runs from June 30 to August 7, 2025. The program will meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 11:00am with 90 minutes for Literacy and 60 minutes for Numeracy. 

Tutoring Option:

Invited students in grades K-4 who are not able to attend the 2.5 hour program may opt for tutoring. The registration is included in the email. 

6 weeks for 40 minutes, 2-4 times each week

Tutoring schedule and frequency to be determined based on family/student need and available  slots.

Math Acceleration Courses:

Tutoring:

Math Acceleration Course: 
High school students can pay tuition and enroll in one math acceleration course (Bridge to AP Precalculus) this summer. Review the course description and registration information in the document below:

Credit Recovery Courses for GPS High School Students:
Current GPS high school students who may need credit recovery courses this summer will be notified of available options in May and June. In collaboration with your school counselor, you can determine which course(s) to take this summer and complete the registration process. 

All credit recovery courses will take place virtually via Edgenuity. 

Course Options for Non-GPS High School Students:
High school students who do not currently attend Greenwich Public Schools can pay for and enroll in online courses this summer. More information coming soon.

Students currently in grades K-4 (rising 1-5) who receive Special Education but are NOT eligible for Extended School Year as indicated on their IEPs:

• Letters are sent to parents of students who would be eligible for summer school based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth)
• 6 weeks for 2 ½ hours (Focus on Literacy including Writing, and Numeracy component)
• Classes will meet Monday through Thursday each week. 
• No Special Education, or Related Services will be provided - students will receive accommodations and modifications.

Students currently in grades K-4 (Rising 1-5) who receive Special Education, who ARE eligible for Extended School Year as indicated on their IEPs:

• Letters will be sent to parents of students who are eligible for ESY based on the PPT decision as indicated in the IEP document.
• 6 weeks for 3 hours (with Special Education Services and Related Services addressing IEP objectives with a focus on Literacy, including Writing, Numeracy and Social Emotional Learning).
• Classes will meet Monday through Thursday each week. 
• Dates: June 30 - August 7
• Hours: 8:00am - 11:00am
• Summer School Location: New Lebanon School

These are your options:

• Full day 8:00-11:00 am (transportation available via hub stops)
• Math tutoring: two or three times per week of 40 minute sessions (transportation not provided)
• Literacy: two or three times per week of 40 minutes sessions (transportation not provided)

• Letters are sent to parents of students who would be eligible for tutoring based on a combination of data points (whether or not they attained benchmark, and/or if they met their expected growth).
• 6 weeks from June 30- August 7th 
• Math tutoring: two to four times per week for 40-minute sessions  (transportation not provided)
• Literacy tutoring: two to four times per week for 40-minute sessions (transportation not provided)
• No Special Education, or Related Services will be provided - students will receive accommodations and modifications.

Students who receive Special Education, who ARE eligible for Extended School Year as indicated on their IEPs:

• Letters are sent to parents of students who would be eligible for ESY based on the PPT decision as indicated in the IEP document.
• 6 weeks for 3 hours (with Special Education Services addressing IEP objectives with a focus on Literacy, including Writing, Numeracy and Social Emotional Learning).
• 8:00am-11:00am 
• Transportation is provided via hub stops.

Math Acceleration Placement Test Dates:

Prove to Move Dates

Greenwich offers a Prove to Move option. This option provides students with an opportunity to prove they have the requisite knowledge to accelerate. Students need to prove they have adequate content knowledge to move to the next level, hence the phrase “Prove to Move."

Test Dates & Registration:
Prove to Move Math assessments will be held at the Board of Education Building on:

• July 22
• August 12

Students must register via the Google Form at least 72 hours before their chosen test date.

• Bridge to Pre-Algebra 7 Test Only
• Bridge to Algebra 8 Test Only
• Algebra 1 Test Only
