Greenwich Public Schools Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Events promote a safe school climate by fostering social-emotional skills in our students and reinforcing the District’s norms: Be Here, Be Safe, Be Honest, Care for Self and Others, Let Go and Move On.

JANUARY 24 - BE SAFE

BE SAFE- WITH POWER COMES RESPONSIBILITY 
Promoting safety and  teaching responsible decision making strategies. 

Students will take this opportunity to:

●      Learn that they are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.

●      Think out their decisions carefully and deliberately to develop positive habits that will stay with them forever.

As an extension of the BE SAFE event we are hosting a community event on:

Saturday, February 2, 2019

from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

at Cos Cob Fire House

Parents and children can:   

       Meet the people who keep you safe:

Firefighters, Police Officers, and Paramedics

•       Enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate & cookies

•       Explore the fire and GEMS trucks and police cars

•       Try safety and rescue equipment

•       Get your picture taken and decorate your own picture frame

•       Get safety tips from the experts

•       Leave with a great memory

“Be Here-What’s your Superpower?

Promoting self-growth and goal setting.
Students will take this opportunity to:

  • Reflect on their strengths and identify their super power and how they will use it to be successful during the school year.
  • Learn how to use their strengths to improve their challenges.
  • Brainstorm ways they can use their superpowers to make a difference in our community and the world

OCTOBER 24 - CARE FOR SELF AND OTHERS

Care For Self and Others: “I Am Here to Save the Day!”

Promoting self-advocacy, empathy and compassion.

 Students will take this opportunity to:

  • Learn how to advocate for themselves and help others.
  • Learn how to identify a need and offer help when needed.
