Celebrate National Summer Learning Day July 12

National Summer Learning Day is a national advocacy day aimed at elevating the importance of keeping kids learning, safe and healthy every summer, ensuring they return to school in the fall ready to succeed in the year. Your support and  participation sends a powerful message  that summers matter and offers an opportunity to showcase how learning can take place anytime, anywhere.

The Greenwich Public Schools Seamless Summer Learning program provides Curriculum Playlists to promote learner choice and anytime, anywhere access to district approved digital tools and resources for Humanities, ESL, STEM, the Arts, World Language and a  Digital Library collection of titles for summer reading through Overdrive. Parents can engage their children in learning for enjoyment, all designed to support prevention of summer learning loss. Whether your child has a school-issued device or is accessing the resources from any web-enabled device, all K-8 students will be able to participate in the programming available for summer learning.

Purpose of a Seamless Summer Learning Experience:

  • Access to familiar district digital tools and resources (app or web-based) in all content areas
  • Access to a digital library collection of titles to support student choice and "just right" reading level
  • Promote learner choice and anytime and anywhere access
  • Participation has the potential to lessen the "summer learning loss"

All experiences within the Curriculum Playlist can support each learner

at their level of readiness, need, strength and passion. 

Summer work is optional and will not be graded.

In an effort to prevent summer learning loss, Greenwich Public Schools is providing summer access to IXL, a digital resource providing individualized practice in computation and problem-solving to all K-8 students, along with other resources to develop the mathematical proficient learner. Students can use IXL to review concepts presented during the past year and prepare for math courses for the upcoming 2018-19 academic year.

Greenwich Public Schools recommends a minimum of 30 minutes of IXL use per week.

IXL log ins are as follows:

User ID: firstnamelastname (using their formal "report card" name)
e.g. beyonceknowles, justintimberlake


Passwords: first initial last initial 9 digit student id
e.g. bk123456789, jt001012345
