School Events

Riverside hosts many great events throughout the school year (including our Fundraisers!). Please see below for the dates. We hope you can join us.

Parade of Learners - August 30, 2018
Join us for our traditional back to school parade! Meet your child's new teacher and class on the front lawn of the school. The parade starts at 8:30 when Principal Weiss leads the classes on a parade down "learners lane" and into the front door of the school. Not an event to be missed! Don't forget your camera for when you watch your little ones wave good-bye for the day.

Volunteer Fair - August 30, 2018
Immediately following the Parade of Learners, the PTA holds its annual Volunteer Fair in the cafe. This is a great place to get some coffee and mingle with other parents. Come by to join the PTA, volunteer for a committee, purchase school apparel and show off your great summer tan.

School Photos - October 9, 2018
A fundraiser for the school, class and individual pictures are taken each fall. Look for order forms in your Friday Folders and information in the PEEK. School photos are a great way to document your child's toothless grin, favorite outfit and more.

Fall Fundraiser - October 20, 2018
Leave the kids at home for this parent only event! Come out for a night on the town to support the PTA funded enrichment programs at school. Mingle with other Riverside school families and teachers, while enjoying delicious food, bidding on silent auctions and having a great time. This is a night you don't want to miss!

Boo Bash - October 26, 2018
All grades are invited to this Halloween party with crafts, games, a DJ and a bake sale. Grades K-2 attend an earlier party. Grades 3-5 are invited to the later party. This event is a fan favorite so sign up before it sells out! **Please note this event is for Riverside families only.**

Math Marathon - October 2018
It's a math race!!! Put on your brain sneakers and log into your IXL account. Each year, Riverside School hosts a month long math marathon where classes go head to head to complete the most math problems on IXL. One class wins the competition and is awarded a special prize (and bragging rights!)

Book Fair - November 2018
An annual fundraiser for the school and a great way to stock up on reading material or gifts, the book fair is a student and parent favorite. Classes attend the book fair at a scheduled time during the day and parents are invited to join and help their children shop. In addition to the fair, there is an author's night, complete with an ice cream social and a special kid's raffle. You had me at ice cream.

Holiday Sing Along - December 2018
A great way to get into the holiday spirit, Riverside School hosts a fun-filled sing along to kick off the holiday season. The music teacher leads the school with songs to celebrate many holiday traditions. The kids greatly enjoy this festive after school event.

Reserved only for the school's oldest and wisest, the 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in our annual school musical. This two week process is action packed and gives the kids a crash course in acting and just what it takes to put on a show. From singing, acting, making the stage props and costumes, the kids are involved in every aspect, with lots of parental guidance. Past shows include The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and Aladdin.
