Cafeteria Recycling - North Mianus participates in Greenwich’s single stream recycling program. All students will participate in a two-day recycling training in the fall. Hopefully these great recycling habits will continue at school and at home! To learn more about single stream recycling at school and at home, follow this link to the town’s Single Stream Recycling Guide.
Battery Recycling (February): In February, we are collecting all used home batteries (regular alkaline, such as AA, AAA, C, D, rechargeable, etc.) in collection boxes at school. We will then deliver these boxes to Greenwich’s Holly Hill facility to be recycled. You can always drop off additional batteries throughout the year at Holly Hill.
Crayola Colorcycle (April): Last year NMS collected 4,360 used markers for the Crayola Colorcycle marker recycling program! Did you know that recycling 8 markers creates enough energy to cook an egg, make toast and heat two cups of hot chocolate? Bring used markers of any type (not just Crayola brand and including dry erase, permanent and highlighters) to the collection boxes at school during the month of April. Here is an interesting video on how the markers are recycled!
