FAMILIES AS PARTNERS IN LEARNING

WE WANT TO HELP, BUT YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD BEST
When it comes to knowing how your child is progressing in school, you have several puzzle pieces to put together. You know what makes him/her light up and what causes him/her frustration. Report cards reflect your child’s effort and progress toward learning goals but there are other tools teachers rely on to determine students’ grade level. All of these pieces are important to understanding your child’s progress and achievement so you can support learning skills at home. Please complete this questionnaire by Sunday, December 1st. The questionnaire will go home in your students' backpack; they area also attached as printable files below.

**ONE QUESTIONNAIRE SHOULD BE COMPLETED FOR EACH CHILD IN YOUR FAMILY**

NEW ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

NEW ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES START MONDAY! PLEASE READ BELOW...

Dear New Lebanon Parents and Families,

We are excited to announce that our final arrival and dismissal procedures will be starting on Monday, October 7, 2019. Please read below to understand important details about how you will drop off and pick up your students at New Lebanon moving forward. Our goal is to keep everyone safe, and we thank you for your support with this! Go Bobcats!

ARRIVAL:

Buckle your seatbelt, this is quite lengthy - see pictures for help!

Drivers: If you drive to New Lebanon in the morning, please proceed up the new driveway towards the new parking lot. Stay to the right all the way up the hill and then proceed all the way to the back of the parking lot loop, staying to the right the entire time. Please do not cut through the island parking spots - proceed all the way to the back of the lot and come around the parent drop off loop. Proceed around the parent loop and stay in the right hand lane (curbside), closest to the sidewalk. Pull as far forward as possible and then stop your car for your child to get out. There will be adults there helping them exit the car. Students MUST exit the car on the right hand side. After you drop your child, please carefully pull into the left/passing lane (left lane) and turn right at the stop sign from the LEFT lane. The right lane is not for cars past the handicapped accessible drop off space (blue striped lines).

If you are behind a stopped car and ready to leave, please use caution! You can pull around that car, slowly, using the left passing lane to exit the parent loop. Please obey the stop sign at the end of the parent loop before turning right to drive back down the driveway. Note at the stop sign, you will always stay in the left lane to turn right.

Please drive slowly and pay attention to cross walks, stop signs, and the adults who are helping to guide traffic. We are all working together to ensure safety for our students. Pedestrians always have the right of way.

If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the “island spots” in the middle of the parking lot and then use the crosswalks in the parking lot to cross. Please do not walk across moving cars in the parent drop off loop. Crosswalks are denoted by small grey bricks and white stripes and are located on the exterior of the island parking spots. When you get back in your car to exit the “island spots,” please exit toward the homes away from the school (NOT toward the drop off area) - turn right then proceed down the driveway/hill.

Walkers: If you walk to New Lebanon, please cross at the cross walks and proceed up the NEW sidewalk, on the left side of the driveway as you walk up toward the building. Please stay on the sidewalk the entire time and proceed toward the front entry bridge closest to the main office. If you are a Pre-K parent, please proceed toward the second bridge, closest to the Pre-K classrooms.

Bus Loop: All passenger cars and walkers are asked to stay out of the bus loop. The bus loop is for busses only. Bus riders will exit their bus at the bus loop and proceed in the main bridge entry.

Late drop off: If for some reason your child is arriving to school after 8:30am, please pull into the bus loop, allow your child to get out of the car and walk across the main entrance bridge. Your child will buzz in at the main office door. Your child with then check in at the main office to receive a late pass. You may also park in the “island spots” and walk your child in to the main office to receive a late pass.

VISITORS TO NEW LEB: If you come to New Leb during the day, please park in the “island spots” in the middle of the new parking lot. Please use the crosswalks in the parking lot to cross. Crosswalks are denoted by small grey bricks and white stripes and are located on the exterior of the island parking spots. When you get back in your car to exit the “island spots,” please exit toward the homes away from the school - turn right, and proceed down the driveway/hill.

DISMISSAL:

Drivers: SAME AS ARRIVAL AND please have your laminated name tag in your dashboard. They came home in your Friday Folders on Friday, October 4th! We will load multiple cars at one time and then dismiss multiple cars at one time. Please watch for staff direction.

If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the “island spots” in the middle of the parking lot and then use the crosswalks in the parking lot to cross. Please do not walk across moving cars towards the parent drop off loop. Crosswalks are denoted by small grey bricks and white stripes and are located on the exterior of the island parking spots. When you get back in your car to exit the “island spots,” please exit toward the homes away from the school (NOT toward the drop off area) - turn right then proceed down the driveway/hill.

If you arrive early (i.e during Pre-K dismissal or before your child is outside), you may be asked to loop around the parent-drop off loop, so others can dismiss efficiently. Thank you for your patience.

Attention Pre-K Parents: Please park in the “island spots” in the middle of the parking lot at dismissal and walk to the Pre-K bridge to pick up your child. When you get back in your car to exit the “island spots,” please exit toward the homes away from the school (NOT toward the drop off area) - turn right then proceed down the driveway/hill.

Walkers: If you walk to New Lebanon in the afternoon to pick up your student(s), please cross at the cross walks and proceed up the NEW sidewalk, on the left side of the driveway as you walk up toward the building.

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will be dismissed near the BIG playground closest to the parking lot. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will be dismissed near the SMALL playground closest to the main entrance of the building. Teachers and their classes will stand at the same location daily.

Busses/Afters: Students who attend after school programs or take the bus will be escorted through the front door by the bus loop and proceed to get onto their busses to their respective locations.
