Soccer - Girls

Program Overview:

Greenwich High School Girls Soccer fields 3 teams; varsity, junior varsity and freshman.  Prior to participation you must email the Greenwich High School Health Office to certify that a current athletic physical examination is on file or to send an updated sports medical form.   Please visit the registration page for more information.

You must register on the GHS Athletics website (registration begins June 1).  Sign off on the code of conduct and substance abuse information. Once you have done everything required that will formerly register you for tryouts.

If you do not have a medical clearance from the School Nurse and/or you have not registered on the GHS Athletics website. YOU NEED BOTH!

Due to CIAC rules, the governing body of CT High School sports, communication between players and coaches outside of the season is limited. If there is further information you need or any questions you have please reach out to the Varsity Captains Sofia Devito and Skylar Scavo who are happy to help.  

Time Commitment:

GHS Girls Soccer Structure
Freshman Squad - 10 game season practice most days during fall season.

Junior Varsity - 14 Game season.  Practice daily during fall season.

Varsity – 16 game reg season + playoffs. Practice daily and possible weekend events.

Tryouts Dates:
Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors – 8/27, 8/28, 8/29.
Freshman – 8/28, 8/29

Roster spots are merit based and attending tryouts does not guarantee placement on a team.  Players are assessed on technical, tactical, and athletic components - all players trying out will complete the soccer specific Yo Yo Fitness test.

Preseason Conditioning:

Proper preparation for a high school season is hugely important in order to obtain the required soccer  specific fitness that will see players through an extremely intense practice and game schedule. The high  school season is packed into a short space of time meaning often 2-3 games per week with little time for  recovery - the higher the levels of fitness coming in the more likely of success through the season. A  summer work out info pack will be sent to you after registering for tryouts.
