COVID-19 Information for Athletes

Informed Consent and Waiver to Play:

Per the CIAC, all athletes registering for Fall Sports must review and agree to the Notice of Risks, Informed Consent and Waiver Regarding Interscholastic Sports During Covid-19.  Students may not participate in Athletics without signed consent and waiver.

COVID-19 Disclosure and Return to Play:

Athletes who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last year are also required to submit a completed COVID-19 Return to Play Screening for Students form, which must be signed by the family primary care physician, in order to participate.  Completed Forms should be sent to sportsphysicalsghs@greenwich.k12.ct.us

COVID-19 Testing:

Voluntary COVID-19 testing is available in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) starting the week of Monday, May 3rd. Hours are from 8:30-11:00 AM and 2:00-3:30 PM, through the end of the school year. It is fast, easy, and adds an additional level of safety for you, your classmates, and your teammates.

Q&A

  • Why should I be tested?
Testing adds an extra layer of protection for you and others from an exposure. It allows us to identify positive cases and quarantine more strategically. It will help us continue to prevent the transmission among students and keep in-person learning and sports activities ongoing.

  •  What do I need to do if I want to be tested?
Obtain consent from your parents or guardian.

  • What type of test is it?
This is a pooled test that will identify a positive student in a group of 25 participants. If a positive case is discovered, those 25 students will be contacted and asked to have further testing to identify the individual and contact tracing will begin.

  • How is the test administered?
The test is a self-administered nasal swab (see the attached flyer). The student registers with our receptionist, is handed a nasal swab, cleans his/her hands with hand sanitizer, opens the package and swabs the inside of their nostril four times on each side and deposits the swab in a tube. Then you are done!

If you have any questions or concerns please stop by the nurse's office for additional information.
