Working Papers / Student Employment / Volunteer Opportunities

The Student Employment Service is located in the Career Center in the GHS Media Center during the school year and in the Greenwich Library during the summer. PTA Parent volunteers maintain a listing of paid and volunteer jobs. The office is open Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. If you are a student or employer, you can find more details on the SES website.

Students between the ages of 14 and 18 years are eligible for working papers. The paperwork is available from the receptionist in the Main Office at GHS.   In order to receive working papers for jobs in CT, students must present a birth certificate, current passport or driver’s license and the employer’s signature confirming a promise of employment. For jobs in NY State, students must go to Port Chester H.S. The Main Office of GHS is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm each week day during the school year, and from 8:00-3:00 Monday-Friday during the summer.

We encourage you to volunteer your time to support your favorite non-profit! Besides the chance to learn new skills and strengthen our community, your junior year Civics course requires 5 hours of community service, and the GHS chapter of the National Honor Society requires 20 hours of community service per year. The Volunteer Service is a Fairfield County organization that helps connect students over 18, families and adults with local volunteer opportunities.  https://thevolunteerservice.com  More details contained in The Volunteer Service flyer

Additional volunteer opportunities can be found by joining GHS service clubs or browsing the Student Employment Service website.
