Action

The ACTION CYCLE is an important component of PYP. Education must extend beyond the intellectual to include not only socially responsible attitudes but also thoughtful and appropriate action. At ISD we encourage students to act on what they are learning through the action cycle: REFLECT, CHOOSE, and ACT. By reflecting on learning, students can make a choice and take action.

Student-initiated action demonstrates deeper learning through service to peers, our school, our community or our planet. This action will extend the student's learning, and may have a wider social impact. Action can be taken by an individual student or group of students working collaboratively. Action is an extension of the central idea of the unit your child is working on in class.

If you notice your child taking action RELATED TO THE CURRENT UNIT OF INQUIRY, please let your child's teacher know. We record all these special moments in our unit reflections.
