Superintendent of Schools Ralph Mayo has announced the appointment of Mr. Jason Goldstein as the Principal of Eastern Middle School (EMS), effective immediately.
Superintendent of Schools Ralph Mayo has announced the appointment of Mr. Jason Goldstein as the Principal of Eastern Middle School (EMS), effective immediately. Mr. Goldstein has served in the interim role at EMS since July 2018. Mr. Goldstein said, "I am thrilled and excited to have been selected as the Principal of Eastern Middle School. Joining the EMS family this past year has been a wonderful experience. I look forward to continuing the collaborative work with the amazing students, staff, and parents as we foster student growth and develop future problem-solvers, innovators, and strong community leaders."
Mr. Mayo said, "It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce that Jason Goldstein will be the next principal of Eastern Middle School. Jason brings to EMS a strong understanding of best practices at the secondary level along with the necessary understanding and joy to collaborate in a highly effective manner with the middle level child. Jason is a natural leader who looks to solve problems and make improvements in a timely, but thoughtful manner. Jason has all of the characteristics, skills and attributes to ensure that our students will grow academically and emotionally in a very safe environment."
Bio Brief: Jason Goldstein
Prior to joining the Greenwich Public Schools (GPS) in 2000 as a science teacher at Greenwich High School, Mr. Goldstein began his teaching career in 1995 at Western High School in the Broward County School System in Florida. He has been a science classroom teacher, an instructional coach and an administrator in the GPS. As an instructional coach, he supported teachers through collaboration, conferencing, observations, co-teaching and modeling to continually improve their practice. In 2012, he was chosen as the House Administrator of Greenwich High School's Cantor House. In this role, he provided leadership in various aspects of educational programming, including developing strong relationships with members of the school community, co-designing and implementing new, innovative curricula and alternative programs, supervising staff and running the day-to-day operations of the House. Mr. Goldstein served as Interim Principal of Eastern Middle School for the 2018-2019 school year, before his appointment to the permanent role in May 2019.Mr. Goldstein received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York, Albany, NY in 1993, a Masters in Science in Education from the University of New England, Biddeford, ME in 2007, and a Sixth Year Degree in Administration from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT in 2010.
