Cardinal Stadium Lights

At their October 23, 2025 Business Meeting, the Board of Education moved to start the process of modifying the conditions for lights at Cardinal Stadium. The motions were passed unanimously.
BACKGROUND:
- The original six-game limit was created under older lighting, sound, and neighborhood-impact conditions. With the 2022 upgrades, improved mitigation technology and evolving athletic and community needs, there is a strong technical, operational, and educational basis to permit more games under lights while still respecting the intent of prior agreements.
- Allowing more night games better accommodates playoff schedules, rescheduled matches due to weather, and greater opportunity for teams to host night games.
- Night games allow greater attendance by working parents and community members who cannot attend afternoon games.
- Similar conditions exist in all three decisions.
- The approval path for modification is linear, with six distinct steps: BOE, RTM, PZBA, P&Z, BOS, and finally the Court.
- Planning and Zoning Final Site Plan modification #8 requires the Board of Education to first start with the RTM, prior to returning to the P&Z for a revised site plan.
