Athletics at Central
Central offers two separate sports programs, competitive sports in which participants must tryout and make the team and intramurals, which are open to all students, no tryouts. Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege, therefore students must adhere to the district/school rules or risk the possibility of being held out of a game or practice. This year we are also adopting an academic responsibility component that will hold each student athlete responsible for her/his schoolwork. The policy is simple, if your child is receiving two "D’s" or one “F” they will be removed from their team until the grade(s) improve*. The students will be monitored throughout the season to make sure they have a successful season in the classroom and on the court. Please sign on the appropriate line below to acknowledge your receipt and understanding of this athletic policy.
*The CMS administration understands the in the era of the "open" grade book, there may be circumstances when a grade below a ‘C’ is not the result of academic apathy, but a limited sample size of graded assignments/assessments. In such cases, the student may appeal to CMS administration to allow for continued participation in team activities during the academic probationary period (decisions will be made on a case by case basis).
