CMS PTA Volunteer Opportunities

Beautification Looking for gardening enthusiasts who can help make our school beautiful and inspiring for the next generation.Year-long planning, planting, maintaining – whatever time you could give would be great.

Cougar Store We like to give our children opportunities to buy school spirit merchandise during school and at CMS events.Please consider pitching in for a one or two hour shift.

Curriculum Enrichment Programs Assist with various curriculum enrichment programs and assemblies to be presented to students during the school day.Parents will be needed on occasion to help with set-up, greeting and supporting performers/speakers, or clean up.Short 1-2 hour commitments throughout the year.

Fall Book Fair Many hands needed during this week long event where we assist the media center in selling books to the CMS Community.We need help with set-up on the afternoon before, cashiers throughout the week and breakdown and cleanup on the final day.

Green Schools Work with the committee to encourage kids to do their part in “going green” by educating and helping them develop habits to make living sustainably easy and fun.One example is on Earth Day in April, where parent volunteers are needed to assist in the cafeteria during lunch with a single stream recycling initiative.

Media Center Pick the date and time that works best for you!It’s an easy one-hour a week or one-hour a month commitment throughout the school year.Help staff in library with shelving books, covering and processing new books, checking out books at the circulation desk, etc.A great chance to see the kids in action in the Media Center.

All School Musical Many volunteers will be needed – from auditions in January to rehearsals and ticket sales all the way through to dressing room assistance on the show nights in early April.

Parent Social Fundraiser This is the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year!We need enthusiastic helpers within the committee for all types of positions, including hostess, wish list, decorations, auctions, etc.

Teacher Appreciation Week This is a special time where we honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children.Parents are needed to assist the committee with lunch donations as well as help in set/clean up.

Spring Plant Sale Volunteers are needed to help the committee organize the plant orders, deliver gifted plants to teachers, and sell whatever is remaining.

Student/Faculty Tailgate & Basketball Game Fundraiser This much anticipated annual event takes place from 3-7 on a Friday in March.Parent volunteers are needed for raffle/food/drink donations, food and ticket sales, set up, clean up and chaperoning.

Capstone Project 6 th & 7th grade parents needed!It is a great way to help you prepare for when your child participates.You will work with a team of other parents and evaluate the 8th grade students’ presentations.This would be a Friday commitment in mid-June, roughly three hours from 8:20-11:30am.

8th Grade Celebration 8th grade parent volunteers are needed to help the Class of 2018 end their last year at CMS with a bang!You can help plan, set up, serve, clean-up, etc.It’s a wonderful opportunity to watch your child create their final memories of middle school! A few hour commitment during the last month of school.

8th Grade Recognition Ceremony 6th and 7th grade parents organize this for our Class of 2018.We will need a few volunteers to help set up, serve refreshments and clean up after the graduation ceremony on the last day of school.An easy two-hour commitment in the morning.
