QUESTIONS

How can we identify learning barriers in our classrooms and design lessons, delivery and content to address the needs of all our students?

What is Differentiation? - excerpts from title, Differentiation in the Classroom by Carol Ann Tomlinson.

TASK DESCRIPTION

  • Educators will receive a classroom scenario to which they will refer throughout the workshop.
  • Using a graphic organizer and group share, educators brainstorm answers to the following:
    • What are potential barriers that may exist for students within your given lesson scenario?
  • Educators will be introduced to the concept of  Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • After exploration of technology/online and non-tech tools and resources, educators will use their scenario and the pre-observation conference worksheet to generate questions to support refinement of responses to question 1C.
  • Educators will be able to recommend and share at least three specific and concrete strategies, tools and resources and describe how these could best address barriers in the classroom.
