The 2nd grade looked at the topic of trees and examined how fiction and nonfiction are different.   We read the following books to do this:
   HAVE YOU SEEN TREES
                            by Joann Oppenheim
   THE LIFE CYCLE OF A TREE
                             by Bobbie Kalman
   A TREE IS NICE
                              by Janice Udry
   THE GHOST -EYE TREE
                              by Bill Martin Jr.

We shared and listed words to describe the different trees we had looked at.  We gazed at the trees outside our windows and examined branches.  After drawing trees using KidPix, we used our list of words and wrote sentences to describe our trees.
