At Hamilton Avenue Magnet School, we do whatever it takes!
The Renaissance School at Hamilton Avenue
At The Renaissace School at Hamilton Avenue, we celebrate our diverse population and make an unconditional commitment to focus on high academic achievement for each individual child. We have a well-trained and highly motivated professional staff who use the rigorous curriculum of the Greenwich Public Schools and research-based best practices to plan lessons to which meet every child’s academic needs. We monitor students’ progress through frequent assessment, examine student work regularly and adjust our instruction accordingly to ensure that all students are successfully meeting their academic goals.
Beginning at the start of the 2007-0-8 school year, The Renaissance School at Hamilton Avenue will offer a wide array of features to all of its students, both those from our neighborhood, as well as those that elect to attend from the larger community of Greenwich. We recognize that early learning is essential for future success, and so we will provide a well-staffed, all-day Pre-kindergarten program which emphasizes the development of English language, school-readiness and social skills. Class sizes in the all-important grades of Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be limited to fifteen students so that all of our youngest students have the personal attention they need to succeed.
All of our students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 will use integrated, state-of-the art instructional technology both within their classrooms and in computer labs. All K-5 students will receive instruction in Spanish and will enjoy a unique physical education program which includes training in life-long activities. Our art programs will be rich and varied, and provide informative and stimulating museum experiences each year for all children. All students in Grade 5 will be trained as museum docents to further enrich their appreciation of art in its many forms. Students who need extra support to achieve will have additional professional staff members to assist them, and will be encouraged to attend supplemental academic programs offered before and after school and during the summer.
The Renaissance School at Hamilton Avenue values its partnerships with PTA and individual parents as well as the larger community. We will welcome all parents to the specially-designed Parent Center within our school and look forward to providing accessible opportunities in higher learning for all of our families. We are proud of our excellent, long-standing relationships with the Boys and Girls Club, the Greenwich Arts Council, The Bruce Museum and Community Centers, and will continue to work together to serve our students and families.
