Riverside Rangers - This leadership opportunity is a direct outgrowth of our ROPES social emotional learning program. Students in grade 5 are trained to be leaders in the spring of their 4th grade year. In the fall and spring of grade 5, they serve as activity leaders for grade 2 students. Weather permitting, these students will organize cooperative games for younger students on the playground. In addition, Rangers serve as greeters every morning, welcoming students as they enter the school. We are constantly looking for ways to encourage school-community leadership among our students. We know they are up to the challenge.
Riverside Reporter - Our school newspaper is an activity open to grade 5 students. This collaborative effort matches the talents of a staff advisor, parent volunteers and the talented staff of approximately 30-40 reporters. Published three times a year, the Reporter covers school, local and national news, reviews and opinions.
Tour Guides - Those wishing to visit and tour the school are guided through our halls by grade 5 students. Adhering to the theory that you only have one chance to make a first impression, our visitors are always highly complimentary of the students' efforts and the enthusiasm they show for their school.
