Welcome to the Greenwich Public Schools Mathematics section of the web site. Please use the menu bar to the left to navigate through the information about our K-12 Mathematics program and curriculum.
The Mathematics Department completed a comprehensive curriculum review during the 2012-13 school year, resulting in the curriculum documents you will find throughout this section of the web site. The new units of study aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Math in Focus resources to support the curriculum and a comprehensive staff development plan combine to form a rigorous program designed to enable every student to explore and apply Mathematics in real world scenarios.
The K-5 Mathematics curriculum was implemented in September, 2013. The Middle School Mathematics curriculum will be implemented in September, 2014, including redeveloped Math 6A, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Geometry courses.
Mathematics Learner Goal
All students will develop comprehension of mathematical concepts, operations and basic skills as well as acquire skills to carry out procedures accurately, efficiently, and appropriately. All students will demonstrate the ability to formulate, represent, and solve mathematical problems and will develop the capacity for logical thought, reflection and explanation. Students should view mathematics as useful and worthwhile, coupled with a belief in diligence and confidence in one’s ability.
