One of the school’s students won
highest honors for year-long individual achievement as well: Sixth grader Isabel Rose earned perfect
scores in all three of the year’s meets for her grade level, and was one of
only eleven sixth graders in the entire country to do so.

THE WELL HAS BEEN BUILT!Roots and Shoots is proud to announce the well project in Damana, Mali is complete. The kids worked very hard in the 2008/09 school year to raise enough money. In the photo, you can also see the schoolhouse funded by CMS in 2005. Thanks to this year's talent show, we raised enough money to provide solar power to light the schoolhouse at night for students and adults to study after their work is done. Next step - solar power for the well pump.
OUR FIRST BOOK ARRIVED IN UGANDA
Many of our students this year are participating in the Books of Hope project, creating academic textbooks for children in northern Uganda, like Innocent. Innocent spoke to our students in March about overcoming being a child soldier to attend university and pursue his dreams. Our "sample book" recently arrived at the Latigi Orphan Care Center, and the children there are excited to receive the rest of the books this summer. View our Video of Field Day 2009

Students and staff at CMS are transitioning to a new school information system, the Portal.
The Portal is one central account for GPS students (and parents) to
access student homework, research resources, and transfer files between
school and home. The Portal is a BACKUP to the student planner. Homework should still be written down in class each day. To
log on, click on "CMS Student Portal" on the left hand side of this
page under Quick Links. Students have been given log on information.
