The school counselors support the mission of the Greenwich Public Schools by helping all students access the coursework and extracurricular activities that will allow them to reach their highest academic potential, and acquire the skills and knowledge to be capable, creative and responsible members of society. The school counselors also actively contribute to the development of a safe and supportive environment in which to learn. Through individual advisement, small group counseling, classroom activities, and presentations to the staff and parent communities, the school counselors support the district’s academic, social and civic expectations for student learning, and promote the development of the capacities outlined in the Vision of the Graduate.
Students are assigned a school counselor who works with them throughout their four years at Greenwich High School. The counselors offer a variety of special and general services, including individual and group counseling, academic, career and college planning. The school counselor is the key school resource for helping students structure post-high school plans. Counselors are available to help students with questions and problems of both an academic and personal nature. Appointments may be made in the counselor’s appointment book with the House’s Guidance administrative assistant.
