  • The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is a preview of the SAT, which most students take before applying to colleges. The PSAT is offered at G.H.S. annually in October. All sophomores are automatically registered for the PSAT and all juniors are encouraged to register and take the PSAT on the same test date. For Juniors, the PSAT acts as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. For all students, the PSAT provides feedback on their strengths and weaknesses in elements of reading, writing and math in preparation for the SAT. For more details, go to the College Board website.

  • The Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) is given to all sophomores in March. Teachers prepare students for the CAPT in their English, Social Studies, Science and Math classes. Proficiency on the CAPT is one of the current graduation requirements.
