Health and Wellness
Our Wellness Committee Mission.....
To inspire and educate students on the importance of staying active and
eating healthy as life long habits.
The Facts
Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of childhood obesity in a generation so that kids born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams. This is an ambitious goal. But it can be done. Combining comprehensive strategies with common sense, Let’s Move! is about putting children on the path to a healthy future starting with their earliest months and years and continuing throughout their lives.
The Solution
Encourage kids to eat healthier and move more. When children combine physical activity with healthy eating in their daily routine, they help prevent a range of chronic diseases. In addition, physical activity helps to control weight, build lean muscle, reduce fat and promote strong bone, muscle and joint development. Physical activity has also been shown to improve academic performance including better grades, test scores, classroom behavior, attention and concentration. And of course, healthy eating gives kids the proper nutrition they need to stay energized, active and maintain a healthy weight.
Let’s Get Moving
