Program Description

Greenwich Alternative High School (GAHS) is a structured program that fosters the academic, social/emotional and personal growth of our students. The program currently serves a small population of students, grades 9-12. The program is designed to serve students who would benefit from and require a structured environment, smaller class size, and specialized academic and social/emotional support. Our goal is to provide a culture that promotes individual goals, student leadership, service learning, academic rigor and post high school transition planning.

If my child attends GAHS, do they still get a GHS diploma?

Yes, all students who graduate receive a Greenwich High School Diploma.

What types of courses are offered?

Courses are offered in all of the major academic areas, as well as several elective areas.

How do I contact my child's teachers?

The best way to contact your child's teacher is by email. All of the GAHS faculty are listed above with hyperlinks to their emails. You can also call 1-203-990-0439/0440 or fax 1-203-990-0443

Is GAHS being restructured?

The current GAHS will continue to operate in St. Catherine’s Church during the 2016-2017 school year.

District, GHS and GAHS administration proposed researching options and planning for a restructuring of GAHS during 2016-2017 and launching the new design in 2017-2018. The model of alternative high school will have a revised focus and design. The mission of the school will be to prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for success in college and career through a highly structured and supportive environment with low student to staff ratio, strong connections between academic work and 21st century skills, and a full range of support services.
