District/Community News

GHS “Girls Who Code” Club Need Your Help!: The Girls Who Code Club at Greenwich High School entered the Verizon App Challenge. Our app concept, “Under My Wing”, just won $5k for being the Best in State, and we were also recently named Best in Region (one of two high schools in the Northeast)! Now, we are competing for the Best in Nation and "Fan Favorite" award!Under My Wing is a mobile solution (click here) to address the high number of assaults in this country, especially for young adults. The app design features self-defense educational tutorials, emergency contact features, and integrated recording capabilities to help increase security.

Please help them win the national "Fan Favorite" Award by texting "WING" to 22333 on your cell phone (smart phone). They need as many votes as possible; this is a nationwide contest – one vote per cell phone. Please ask everyone you know to vote! The winner gets resources ($15,000) and help from MIT to turn the concept into reality!

ScreenAgers Showing & Panel Discussion at GHS: All are invited on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the GHS Performing Arts Center, to a showing of SCREENAGERS (see description below). Following the movie, there will be a panel discussion with:

  • ∆Dr. Marcie Schneider, MD, FAAP, FASM, Greenwich Adolescent Medicine

ScreenAgers: Growing Up in The Digital Age; is the first feature documentary to explore the impact of screen technology on kids and to offer parents proven solutions that work.

Innovation Lab Exhibit at the Bruce Museum: You are invited to the upcoming exhibition of student work at Bruce Museum on Wednesday, February 8, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM. For ONE NIGHT ONLY come experience a gallery of art examining "Opposition and Change in Self and Society." This exhibition represents the culmination of project work by Greenwich High School Innovation Lab sophomores in both Humanities (English and American history) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
